MAFCA Board of Directors Cancels 2020 National Convention
Dear MAFCA Members:
For the past several weeks news reports have been filled with information about the Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak in our country. All of them point out that the danger is greatest for individuals who are more than 50 years of age. And, some reports are suggesting that the outbreak may not crest for quite some time.
In the face of such uncertainty, the MAFCA Board of Directors has decided to cancel our biannual National Convention in June 2020 and reschedule it for 2022.
Please understand that none of this reflects badly on Alamo A’s, the host chapter, or any of the hard work that has been accomplished already. All MAFCA Board members and I are particularly sorry that we have had to take this unprecedented action. In the end, we decided to err on the side of caution. The last thing we want to do is expose our members to a disease that seems to be hitting our age demographic particularly hard.
If you have already registered, you will receive a refund in the coming weeks. Alamo A’s have graciously agreed to reschedule this event for June 2022. It will offer the same wonderful tours in some of the most beautiful Texas countryside. And, all the other exciting activities you expect from a MAFCA National Convention will be on the agenda. I hope to see you there in 2022.
Best personal regards,
Bill Truesdell
