Hi Model A fans. June is upon us
warm days and sunny skies. Sandy
and I hope everyone are healthy.
The 2020 committee has decided to
postpone the meet until next Sep-
tember, the dates will be the 9th –
12th the venue and special destina-
tion will stay the same. Sunday
River has agreed to hold every-
one’s room reservation for the
same time frame next year. We felt
it best considering all that is hap-
pening right now. David and I want to thank the committee members for their patience while we made this difficult decision. If you had registered and paid for that registration you will be receiving a refund and will have to re-register, we feel it is the fairest decision to return the money at this time.
We have all been quarantined for 10 weeks now. Sandy and I have been busy in the garden and doing some small home improvements. We got to looking around the house since we are here all the time now and decided to replace some area rugs as well as our worn out back stairs and storm door. What has everyone else been doing to pass the time? Some members have expressed an interest in doing a zoom meeting, what does everything think? I believe it is easy to set up should we do it? Please let me know.

Model A Day at The Gilmore is planned for September 18-19. Our theme this year is “Model A First Respond- ers”. We plan to have police vehicles, fire trucks and a Model A ambulance on exhibit as part of our event. We also plan to have our swap meet as well as technical and fashion seminars.
The MAFFI Trustees have been working with The Gilmore staff to assure that the museums and grounds at The Gilmore are as safe as possible to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The Gilmore will assure that procedures will be in place in accordance with Federal and CDC guidelines and Michigan safety and health regulations. There will be changes required to be in compliance with health regulations. Restrictions in gatherings of crowds will require a change in how we conduct seminars. Masks will be required of Gilmore employees and food service will be changed so that food orders are delivered to visitors after orders are taken. Our interactive displays will not be available for use this year. I’m sure other changes will be required pertaining to screening, physical dis- tancing, PPE (personal protective equipment) and limitations in capacity. As stated by The Gilmore and fully supported by MAFFI, “Protecting the health and safety of employees and visitors is our highest calling”. So, we will have to be flexible and adapt to the changes needed to support having a great event this year.
Since Model A Day attendees do not register for the event in advance, we don’t have an ability to communicate with attendees through e-mail addresses. To keep everyone informed, we will communicate updates, as they oc- cur, through our website, (www.maffi.org), The Gilmore website (gilmorecarmuseum.org) and our national club Facebook pages. Please use these communication tools to learn more about Model A Day this year at The Gil- more. Also, I encourage you to contact me or any MAFFI Trustee with your questions or concerns.

Hello Fellow Model A Friends,
The Pine Tree As have decided to cancel our 2020 New England meet. It has been moved to Sep- tember 10-12, 2021. It will be held at the same facility at Sunday River and we will visit the Bob Bahre collection on our Saturday tour.
This was a tough decision for us to make having prepared for it over the last year. Though the COVID19 deaths in Maine are considered low, our Governor is very cautious, and places of business that host groups of people are not allowed to open up for more than fifty people using masks and social distanc- ing of six feet. Currently, the Governor’s office has no plans after August of reducing these restrictions which makes it difficult for us to plan. Our financial risk would be considerable if we went forward.
I want to thank MARCOM and the Long Island Chapter for graciously moving their dates to 2022 and 2023 respectfully so we could move our meet to 2021. For them it was a matter of asking the hotels to move their events forward a year without losing their deposits. So many thanks to both chapters for their understanding!
We are planning on returning everyone’s registration money. Our meet treasurer started the refund today. Your room reservations at Sunday River will be carried over to 2021. If you do NOT want to keep your room reservation please contact Sunday River directly. We are now looking forward to celebrating 2021 in Maine. See you all then.

From the Editor
Now it’s June and we still can’t really spend much time together. A nice long ride in the Model A would be a good time and many of the members of the club have been enjoying their cars while the weather is nice.
I finally got my car out of storage. I have driven it twice and washed it once. It does still need the electrical harness replaced but it runs well for as old as it is. Dad and I will take a ride on Father’s Day.
My father has not gotten his out of storage yet, but it is ready. He’s been plugging away on the 1946 Ford Pickup. It’s now painted and the chassis is out of my barn and over to his house where the body has been. I find it amazing to watch it all get done, piece by piece. Because of the COVID 19 virus he has spent more time then he planned to on the truck. I’m so glad he had it to focus on, he didn’t seem to mind.

What's in your tool kit?
Our old cars are simple machines compared to today's cars, but they are OLD. Even restored cars, alt- hough practically new, sometimes surprise us with 'roadside seminars'.
It makes sense for all of us to carry a tool bag of some sort. A few tools and parts may save the day. What might be needed is the mystery.
For many, a different thought may be in order: Try to equip yourself with a few tools and parts EVEN IF you may not have the skills to use them. A few examples might be an electrical test light, a fuel filter, a generator cut-out, a coil or a set of ignition points, a
tire patch kit. As we often travel with others, hopefully another person in your
group may be able to pinpoint your problem utilizing the items you provide.
The few items I've mentioned are small in size and the type that might cure a surprise situation. Basic adjustable wrenches, a screw driver and pliers would be included in your emergency goodie bag.
Make sure to carry water for your car or yourself.
